Luke Taylor is a Melbourne based artist who has been using a range of mediums for the past 15 years. His career started early at the age of 12 making sculptures in art class in primary school.

Throughout his life artwork has been a constant outlet for creativity exploring many different mediums. More recently the focus has been colour and detailed landscape art.

Luke’s been inspired by artists such as John Mcalistair, Henri Matisse, Dale Frank and Matthew Palladino. All of these artists use vibrant colours throughout their work.

Luke makes all of the signature frames himself, having a background in design and construction.

Artist Interview

What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

Acrylic paints, watercolours and air brush.

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

First I brainstorm ideas from inspiration and experiences. Then I draw artwork in pencil on the canvas. I then paint over top making changes as I go.

Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?

I work from a home studio in Richmond.
