Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I primarily work with traditional medium: Oil and acrylic are my main medium. I think of the choice of the medium as part of the process for creating an artwork. Above everything else, I adore the luscious texture of oil paints and love the convenience of acrylic.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
I have always been a visual thinker or maybe in other words a "day dreamer". There always seems to be more ideas than what I could paint. At my best, I'd try to capture some of my ideas initially in small scale paintings with either acrylic or oils in a rather ad-hoc manner. Then I find the works tend to refine and develop on their own over time.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I like to paint pretty much anywhere that is possible. It must have been a habit originated from a child. I always have multiple sets of materials that are portable and fit for different environments. Although having dedicated studio space teaches me the essentials of a routine. I do enjoy the possibility of being able to paint any where for practices.
