Artist Profile

Madeline is based in beautiful lutruwita/Tasmania with her partner Keegan and cat Thea, where she approaches life with a philosophy of slowness and appreciation for the small but beautiful moments in life. She came to painting as a way to process life’s complexities and remember the lighter side things.

Her style is a mixture of nostalgia for her favourite moments, real and imagined and vibrancy of colours. From sharing a cup of tea with a friend, to always having fresh flowers in her home… Madeline loves to play with the idea of embracing what your inner child loves.

Her experience with chronic fatigue for the past 5 years has also inspired her to take notice and hold deep appreciation for the smallest of moments whilst life has moved extra slowly.

Artist Interview

What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

I work with acrylic paint as I love how quickly it dries so that I can keep working on a piece without having to wait too long for it to dry. I love that I can layer the paint and create my own colours easily.

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

Initially I may capture a scene with my phone that brings joy or see something in daily life that inspires me. From there I spend time pondering the scenes colours and elements.

Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?

I paint from my dining table and whilst not glamourous I love how accessible it is when the creative moments strike. I usually listen to a podcast or music while I paint.
