Clairs love for painting landscapes is rooted in her fascination with the vibrant colours and textures found in the natural world. Through her art, she strives to capture the essence of these subjects and convey the emotions they evoke within her.
Art has played an enormous role throughout Clair’s life, with painting being her true passion. She finds herself completely immersed in each painting, giving her all to every brushstroke. By creating art that is both reflective of her surroundings and an escape into an imaginary world, Clair aims to inspire others to recognize and appreciate the beauty of nature.
Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I work primarily with acrylic paint because it allows me to work fast and intuitively. I prefer to paint spontaneously, so the faster drying time of acrylic paint allows me to develop and make changes as I create. I also enjoy painting in oils occasionally.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
I usually start my work from sketches that I've either created on location or from photos that I've taken myself. Then, I begin to add layers and build the artwork up intuitively. I like to work with a limited palette of colours and mix them together to create harmony.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I have a private studio in my local town where I create all of my art. I love having a space where I can escape to paint and explore. It's nice at the end of a good art session to be able to close the door and walk away, knowing that when I return in the morning, everything will be just as I left it.
