Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I mostly work with oils. In my opinion, it is the most versatile medium to work with. I paint in thin layers, building depth as I progress along.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
I take photos regularly. I love film photography and I use my photos as references for my painting. I also use collages of found old photos as reference. I always start with an underpainting. It is when I do most of the planning and deciding on the composition. I then work in layers until the end.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I work from a home studio in the Blue Mountains.
