Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I work exclusively with acrylics because they allow me to paint fast and loose, capturing the energy and immediacy of the moment. Their quick drying time and versatility are perfect for my expressive style and layering techniques.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
My process begins with immersing myself in the landscapes that inspire me, blending memories and places to create entirely new scenes. Rather than depicting a specific location, I aim to create shared, subconscious spaces that invite viewers to form their own connections. In the studio, I translate these impressions into loose, expressive underpaintings, allowing the work to evolve intuitively. Layers of acrylics are then built up quickly, capturing the energy and mood of the moment.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I work from my home studio with my perfect furry studio assistants by my side. I’m fortunate to have transformed the downstairs floor of our house into a creative hub and workspace. It’s where I can truly escape, get into the zone, and work on multiple pieces at once. My studio is a space where I can lose myself in the process, surrounded by good energy and positivity, which I carefully guard to keep it a place of inspiration and focus.
