Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I work with acrylic paint because of its versatility and ease of use. As a self-taught artist and mother, I value how forgiving it is and how easy it is to clean up—ideal for balancing creativity with the chaos of life with kids.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
When an idea strikes, it quickly grows into a vision for an entire series, often forming in my mind just before bedtime. I immerse myself in research, exploring Pinterest for inspiration and studying color palettes and techniques from other artists. Once I feel ready, I begin creating, pouring my passion into each piece until the collection is complete and ready to share with the world.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
For the longest time, I painted wherever I could find space—in the laundry, on the kitchen floor, or at the dining table. Living in a small house in Melbourne meant setting up and packing away after every session to keep the space ready for family use the next day. Now, in Perth, I’m fortunate to have my own dedicated studio, a space where I can fully immerse myself in the creative process without interruption. It’s been a transformative change for my art practice.
