Artist Interview

What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

As a multi-disciplinary artist working in both 2D and 3D, I use a variety of mediums. I love the exploration this enables. I feel a sensitivity to the materiality and like to work 'with' rather than 'against' the medium, encouraging it to be what it wants to be.

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

My starting point is transient inspiration, I find it everywhere so breaking it down to basic elements is where I am able to begin. My artworks seek to simplify the complexities of the world we live in. I see them as a refuge for the eye, mind and hands. Working with a variety of mediums allows flexibility in process and it is this that drives the body of work towards forming a collection for exhibition.

Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?

My studio is on undulating Wadawurrung Country with sweeping views of the Victorian surf coast. I am fortunate to work on a property with many other creatives which brings a unique energy to it, that I absolutely love. My studio is a renovated shed, large enough to contain my various material stations. It is generally chaotic in the best way.
