Artist Interview

What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

I love to work with acrylics and oil stick on polycotton and canvas. I work with acrylic because i love the fast paced nature of this material. It allows me more fluid movement in my creative expression.

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

Generally, I snap photos of things that make me happy in my day to day life and over a time the theme becomes apparent to me. I'll then decide on the size and quantity of works, and follow with the painting itself. Only once the collection has been developed does the name and common thread become clarified for me and that's when I launch the works in their completed form with their collective name.

Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?

I have the absolute dream creative studio space called State of Art. I share this huge beautiful warehouse with 5 other artists and we are all in a similar age group. It is the most inspiring place to be every day, and has helped me grow my practice rapidly. The support is essential for a sensitive artist like myself! It's nestled in the heart of Noosa QLD Australia, and has become my second home.
