Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I have always painted with acrylics which has allowed me to paint quickly to capture a moment. This stems from a history of plein air painting and the ease with which you can set up and paint. I have recently discovered oil paints and am loving the richness and the feeling of painting with them.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
My artwork is a response to a moment so rather than a concept it is a deconstruction of how things are related, what role the light is playing and how i can simplify it
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
My husband Derek Schnieder and I inherited this amazing studio in 2022. There is loads of natural light lots of fresh air and views of bushland. It is a real game-changer to have a dedicated creative area to wander into every day
