Fleur is a visual artist and designer, a creative free spirit enlightened by diverse cultures, intricate artworks, travels, patterns, forms, and the beauty of nature. Her artworks consist primarily of handmade paper collages, which are sometimes digitized for a second life or an evolved piece. The materials she uses are typically sourced from books, magazines, physical nature, architectural finishes, web images, or decorative patterns and hand sketches created by Fleur. Her mission is to inspire people through her unique creations, whether it’s a piece made in her studio during a moment of inspiration or a commissioned work.

Based in Melbourne, with a background in visual arts and interior design, she has attained 20+ years of experience in both creative fields. Born in Guam, where her father was a hotel manager, she lived in various countries growing up, including Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, the U.A.E., Germany, and the United States. These experiences enriched her understanding of versatile designs and fine arts. She immersed herself in various cultural aesthetic influences, leading her to work on projects worldwide in cities like New York, Sydney, Bangkok, Singapore, Melbourne, Tokyo, Auckland, and more. Her passion for collage work/mixed media began in the early 90’s. Her artworks have been displayed and permanently installed in private residences, luxury hotels, social events, and curated art spaces.

During her free time, she finds creative sparks by exploring exotic destinations, spending time in art museums or galleries, nature walks, practicing yoga, and dancing to live music.

Artist Interview

What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

mixed media – paper, paint, ink, polymers, specialty finishes

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

I start by visualizing the piece & creating a narrative or concept to work with. The next phase is researching & collecting materials that align with the concept. Followed by with the composition & placement of materials. Once the piece is complete, I work with framers to find the best framing finishes to showcase my piece at best.

Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?

My work environment/studio is typically set up at large wooden table by a large window bringing lots of natural light in & a view of nature which brings additional inspiration there while creating.
