Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I primarily work with oil paint. I’m drawn to the rich textures and expressive qualities that the palette knife and brush can produce. These marks aren’t just technical elements—they’re an extension of emotion and intention, forming an essential part of the visual language on the canvas. I also use acrylics and other media for quick studies or conceptual sketches, especially when developing new ideas.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
Much of my inspiration comes from traveling and observing the world around me. I always carry a sketchbook and camera to document fleeting impressions and moments of beauty. Many of my finished pieces originate from these outdoor sketches. I appreciate the spontaneity and energy of plein air painting. In contrast, larger studio works allow for deeper reflection and refinement—bringing both emotion and thoughtfulness into the final composition.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I work from a home studio where the walls are filled with my own paintings—each one a marker of a creative journey. This personal gallery not only reflects my artistic path but also serves as a constant source of inspiration. The studio faces north and is filled with natural light, creating a calm and inviting atmosphere that helps me focus and immerse myself fully in the act of painting.
