Artist Profile

Zeina Kara-Ali is a Sydney-based artist whose work explores memory, place, and cultural identity. Born in Lebanon, her practice is shaped by childhood memories of traditional Lebanese architecture, as well as her time living in Ghana and her background in biology.

Working primarily in acrylic, Zeina focuses on still life and landscape, using light, line, and texture to draw out the beauty in everyday details. She studied at Sydney Art School and is committed to developing her craft through both teaching and personal practice.

In 2024, she held her first solo exhibition Arches Memory at Hurstville Museum and Gallery. Her work has been shortlisted for the Hunters Hill Art Exhibition and the Fisher’s Ghost Art Award.

What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

I work with acrylic on canvas because I feel comfortable working with this medium.

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

My artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage through my research, contemplation, admiration, emotions and then practice.

Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?

I work in my home studio, spending hours of fun and escaping reality.
