Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
With painting I mostly use raw pigments that I bind into a paint, it's a beautiful process making your own paints. I have always loved the concept and ideas behind alchemy and its significance throughout thousands of years.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
Sometimes I draw first, but not often…I prefer to let my materials to have their own voice when I working with them, especially with my backgrounds, where I allow paints to drip and create their own narratives. Afterwards I overlay some of my designs and motifs that I have worked with for years.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
For the past 13 years I have been working out of my Art and Interiors business "Island Collective" where I have a studio out the back.
