Acrylic Painting
Ainsley Pioli
I’m Ainsley Pioli, an artist based in Milton. I’ve been painting for around seven years, a journey that began when I became a mum. Amid the chaos of early motherhood, I was searching for a creative outlet—and I found it in the simple ritual of blasting music that moved me and letting that energy flow onto canvas. I was then lucky enough to have some interest and started doing commissioned work.

Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I’m a contemporary abstract artist, working primarily with oil paints, acrylics, pastels, and texture. My practice is deeply intuitive so the medium will change based on the mood of the work and how I want it to feel.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
My latest body of work was inspired by the band Chartreuse. It carries a serene, ethereal quality with fluid, melodic movement that feels both emotive and introspective. The textures are raw and expressive, balanced by the softness of oil pastels, creating a dreamlike atmosphere. The result is a series that feels calm, tactile, and deeply personal.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I have a small studio in my house which is a real sanctuary – music is such a motivator for me generally the art is secondary after being moved by a piece of music – the music is the first stage of creating the work.
