Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I work with oil paint. The texture and consistency of oils with a slower drying time, enables me to work primarily alla prima, wet on wet.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
My still life works usually begin with inspiration from the garden. As a keen gardener I plant primarily what I would perhaps want to paint in the future. I have a large ever growing collection of vessels and ceramics and usually paired together with in season fruits form the base of my compostions. Whatever makes me feel calm and at peace. My hope is that feeling is captured on the canvas and resonates with collectors. I work from curated photos that I take to capture specific light and reflections.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
My small studio is within my home in Margaret River. It is my sanctuary, surrounded by my art materials and overlooks the bush and my garden.
