Artist Interview

What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

I work with acrylic paints. I have chosen this medium due to its extensive range of colours, quick drying time, and ability to create texture. Acrylics are well suited for outdoor painting and my colourful, textural style.

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

It starts with exploring a natural feature or historical building. I carry with me my painting kit which I have organised to be lightweight and comfortable. I start the painting with a drawing. Spontaneity is important for me so I do not lock the composition completely. I put the main colours on the canvas and stop when I think I have "something". I paint the details after a day or two without looking at the painting to be able to look at it with fresh eyes.
