Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I work with Acrylic on canvas. I love the ease of painting with acrylic and thoroughly enjoy mixing colours to get the desired shade. I enjoy building layers on top of each other using acrylic paint to create texture on the canvas.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
I see shapes, objects & colours that I am inspired by and will form an idea in my mind. I will then just start sketching lightly in pencil on the canvas until I'm happy with the form and shape. I then begin painting, building layers and shades on top of each other to build texture and shape. I will paint over and over again until I am happy with the finish result. I then varnish the painting and finish it with a beautiful oak frame.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I currently paint from a desk in my bedroom, the kitchen table or outside. My biggest aspiration is to one day have a studio of my own, but for now painting from my bedroom adds to my charm. I absolutely love painting outside on a sunny day.
