Artist Interview

What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

I work with oil paint, pastel and the digital application Procreate. Each medium brings something different to my artmaking. I like having all three on the go, it keeps my process fluid and stimulates new ideas.

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

At the heart of my process is an interest in the natural world: I collect and respond to fleeting moments, studying the forms, energy and subtle rhythm of plants and landscapes. I play with these elements- reworking, altering and distorting them until they take on new compositions that express an emotional sense of place.

Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?

I work from my studio at home, a large area just off the kitchen and have a very patient family. It has lots of windows, natural light and overlooks rooftops and trees, a great space to work in.
