In the early days of motherhood, Kelle would find herself drawing as a way to unwind. It didn’t take long for her to remember just how much she enjoys art, and a passion was ignited. Now creating feature artwork with charming character, pieces that hold stories and inspire feeling. Influenced by her everyday surroundings on farm land, she has a love for landscapes. Always taking photos of her trips across and around WA, the beautiful coastlines are also her favourite subject. Kelle is also an Enrolled Nurse and mother of two boys – always finding time to create pieces when she feels inspired with scenery.

Artist Interview

What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?

Acrylic is my Medium of choice. I like to work with the quick drying time, so I can create layers easily and build with details without waiting too long.

How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?

I often take photographs of places I visit and around our home so I am always full of ideas and inspiration. Once I have an idea in my head I will sketch it out and begin to paint. Getting all the colours down first then adjusting tones and adding details. Once I feel my artwork is finished I step away, and return with fresh eyes later – way I avoid ‘overdoing’ my work.

Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?

Creating artwork from a little cottage in the country. My work area is nothing fancy, usually pulling my artwork out onto the kitchen table. My kitchen table is where all my artwork magic happens.
