Texture and composition are equally essential, weaving layers of various mediums and materials to create rich depth and a sense of history in each piece.
Madeline is currently evolving her style and exploring new mediums, seeking to create a bridge between her traditional approach and the fresh, exciting directions she’s eager to pursue. Her goal is to find a balance that honors her roots while also embracing new creative possibilities.
Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I've recently undergone a huge shift in my practice moving from oil paints to more acrylics, collage and mixed media. Acrylic paint allows me to work more quickly and create more layers and depth in the work.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
My work happens completely intuitively, there is no plan at the beginning. I use my son's drawings for reference and sometimes small pencil sketches I've scribbled down if I see an image I like.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I'm incredibly lucky to have my art studio attached to the gallery I own in an old corners tore which is over 100 years old. My home is also on the property so it's all super convenient and easy.
