Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I love working in oil paint the most. I feel that I can be in control of my mark-making, while also being free to create texture and edges of interesting visual qualities. Oil paint has a way of capturing light, experimenting with surfaces and transparencies will never seize to fascinates and delights me!
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
Most of the time I am inspired by something beautiful that I notice in everyday life, the way the afternoon sun falls on the table and reflects off a glass, for example. Or I find a particularly lovely banksia pod or a shell on the beach, which I then arrange into a still-life composition in my studio and paint from life.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
Natural light, fresh coffee, good music and my cat.
