Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I work in both acrylic and oil paints. For me quick drying acrylics offer greater freedom when working fully in an abstract genre, while oil painting is a slower medium, more suited to my semi abstract landscape works which required a more measure and structured approach.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
My work regardless of the degree of abstraction is always anchored in a real image, in a real place and time. I work in my studio from a portfolio of my photographs and impressions sketched on location.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
I work from home upstairs, in two converted rooms which double as my studio and office, where there is plenty of space to display my resources from which I paint, and for the storing of my materials and canvases. From here I have beautiful views overlooking a park, which serves to further my inspiration.
