Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I prefer working with oils because I find it to be a very forgiving medium for painting. It gives me the freedom to take my time during the painting process without being rushed or concerned about drying time. Additionally, I can achieve a realistic result by building up luminosity through painting in layers with oils.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
It's all start with an idea, then I will do a few sketches to see if it would be working for the actual painting. I normally set up a still life composition in my studio with objects from my personal collection and play around with the composition, colours and objects until I'm happy with it. Then I will begin working on it until it's finished.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
My studio is a place where I feel inspired and motivated to bring my ideas to life. It is filled with objects that I collect for many years to use as a model for my still life painting. There is a space to set up a still life composition and a space for my easel and computer for painting and working.
