Artist Interview
What medium do you work with, and why have you chosen them?
I uses high-quality acrylic paint and media to create and maintain the beautiful colours and longevity of my work. Acrylic paints are longer lasting than oil paints, more flexible, less prone to cracking and more resistant to fading and yellowing over time when varnished.
How does your artwork get from initial concept to exhibition stage?
Initially, I look for inspiration in nature, my personal photos and on-line images I find and manipulate imaginatively. My process is a combination of technical skill and instinctive choice which carry me through to the final stage of my work which visually and emotionally work for me.
Can you tell us a little more about your creative working environment/studio?
My studio is small but compact with everything I need. Sometimes I create rough drafts on paper or use my camera and computer to develop and refine a concept or image. I constantly listen to music when I paint and enjoy it most when I slip into the " the zone" and lose track of time.
